Why we do this
Epilepsy is a really exciting field right now. Knowledge and treatment options have advanced A LOT. Many patients aren’t aware of the safe and effective options that may be available to them to improve their seizure control. We developed Epilepsy Academy to share this information on a larger scale.
Our mission is clear and transparent: provide people affected by epilepsy with the information they need to effectively advocate for themself or a loved one.
Meet Epilepsy Academy
Epilepsy Academy is the result of a labor of love from Drs. Katie Bandt Besson and Pierre Besson. Katie is a physician who specializes in caring for patients with medication-resistant seizures and Pierre is a computational neuroscientist working to develop new imaging tools for use in caring for patients with complex epilepsy. They met in 2016 while working together in France researching epilepsy. They now call Chicago home and are excited to share their message of hope with the epilepsy community.
